An electrochemical cell can be used to separate the dissolved ions that make up the salt (Na + and SO 2− 4 ) and produce sulfuric acid (H 2 SO 4) and …
Here is an example of a double replacement reaction: BaCl 2 ( a q) + Na 2 SO 4 ( a q) → Ba SO 4 ( s) + 2 Na Cl ( a q) In this example, the cations are Ba 2 + and Na +, and the anions are Cl − and SO 4 2 − . If we swap the anions, or cations, we get as our products BaSO 4 and NaCl . Don't forget stoichiometry!
The ion exchange-gravimetric procedure for sodium was based in part upon a classical procedure for sodium [7] and in part upon the ion exchange properties of sodium. The Na in serum is ion-exchanged onto a large column of ion exchange resin. By a series of washings and selective elution, greater than 99.9 % of the Na can be eluted and collected.
Concentrations of sulfate ions and sodium ions in samples of sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid, which had undergone preliminary preparation with an ion-exchange resin, were determined on an Akvilon Stayer ion chromatograph. The flux density and effective transport numbers of sodium and sulfate ions were calculated using Eqs. …
(3) Sulfate ion effect the content of sodium chloride in brine. When sulfate content get too high, crystallization will happen, which may cause pipeline blockage or pump impeller. Currently, the methods of sulfate removal are as follows: (1) Chemical precipitation process: adding barium chloride, or calcium chloride, or barium carbonate; (2 ...

Therefore, the total Li extraction efficiency was only 88%, the recovery of Li by sodium carbonate autoclave process was just around 70% because of lithium lossing. In this study, a novel process for the extraction of lithium from β-spodumene using sodium sulfate solution with addition of CaO or NaOH is proposed, which is expected to be more …
Sep 13, 2015 at 0:37. To expand on Ivan's answer, this would not be a good idea. I assume you mean to use a solution of sodium sulphate in water, which has neutral pH. While this is not itself corrosive to copper (copper being far less reactive than sodium) it will however corrode badly at the positive electrode due to anodic dissolution.
Sodium sulfate forms various hydrates including a decahydrate. The dissolution is exothermic which saturates the solution. When the warm solution reaches the relatively cold frit the supersaturated solutions precipitates. In the glass frit the pores would clog and it would take time to dissolve the sodium sulfate out.
